pretty much sums up the weekend... Decided to skip the 555 due to weather, we instead pointed southwest with no plan, ended up in rain all day anyway. Lost a couple bolts on my rear hub to drum that lodged in the drum and whoa'd the bike in an Arby's parking lot. Pushed over to a 5/3 bank and got it sorted. We made our way to North Vernon, IN and stayed w/Shortbus for the night.

Here's some solid information so that everyone can finish up making their plans. I know a few people have been asking me for addresses/times to the stops so they can meet up with us, well here ya go....

Thursday Night>> 'The Barn'/my shop = 3729 Twp Rd. 85, Dola OH 45835. I will be there @ 2pm, you are welcome anytime after that. Like i have listed, its technically a Dola address, but its more or less Ada. If you can get to Ada, take OH81 East out of town 5 miles (you will jog a set of RR tracks @ mile 4) to Twp Rd 85. Turn right/south onto 85 and continue 2/3 mile, big grey barn on the right. I will have a R4YL sign out @ 81/85 junction.

Friday Night>> GT's Farm = 7727 Pondlick Rd, Hillsboro, OH 45133. We are again out in the country, so navigate yourself to Hillsboro and then take OH62 SOUTH out of town. Follow 62 about 7 miles to OH136, turn left onto OH136 south. Continue on 136 about 6 miles to Pondlick Rd/Redkey Rd (the road changes names on either side of 136). Turn LEFT onto Pondlick Rd and look for all the bikes. We will also have some R4YL leading out from Hillsboro. 136 & Pondlick are pretty windy roads, so be careful if you're coming in the dark.

Saturday Night>> Freds Place = 6020 Scottsville Rd, Floyds Knobs IN 47119. Get to Floyds Knobs, take Scottsville Rd, North out of town about 3 miles. Fred proclaims his driveway to be widow-makers hill, so be careful. He will have a sign of some sort out front, again look for the bikes. Of course if you are there Friday night, i will have maps/printed directions that i'll hand out Saturday morning.

What do YOU need to bring??? We try to make it pretty easy for you guys, but do ask that you be self sufficient. Bring some gas/beer money and tent, leave with some cool swag and a bad hangover! All camping is FREE all three nights. We will pass the hat for beer & food runs. We will have some tools at all the stops (and are happy to help), but they will be limited and you should not depend on them, bring your own.

This is the week that separates the men from boys, the talk from the walk, and the arm chair bandits from the real chopper jockeys. We know life comes up, and things happen, but its always funny to listen to the reasons that people who are 'all in' can't come at the last minute.

Everything is looking good on this end, shirts will be printed this weekend, camping arrangements are all squared away, maps/directions are printed, got a BIG pile of swag waiting, and my Triumph is actually on the road this year!!! Sounds like we're gonna have a really nice turnout this year, but excuse week could change that...lol. The East Coast looks to be well represented this year, with TWT Mike leading the East Coast FreighTrain on Thursday.

Ok, we've got a route mapped out, and we will be scouting it in the coming months.

It looks to be some really good riding. The route clocks in right around 200 miles. As in the past, we’ll have some maps/directions printed up to hand out Saturday morning.

Getting entertainment lined up, sounds like Poopdeflex will be back this year by popular demand.

Here’s an idea how stuff will shake out

Thursday August 4th> Out of towners/staters welcome @ Image1 shop aka The Barn. There’ll be some grub, tools, duct tape to stick shit back on, etc. Some floor space as well for passing out on.

Friday August 5th> Rolling from the barn mid morning en route to Hillsboro. We will be camping @ Greg/GT's again this year (same spot as last year's Saturday) just south of the 'Boro. Much like last year, we'll have some grub on tap for the evening, a big ole fire, some tunes, and of course plenty of beverages. We’ll provide you guys with the actual address of Greg's spot as the time gets nearer. We're also gonna have some signage leading to Greg's from Hillsboro since we know its kinda secluded, to help get people out there easily.

Saturday August 6th> Breakfast of champions, hit the road! We’ll provide route maps for everyone, and we'll pretty much do like we did last year. Head out on your own time, ride with your buddies, stop where ya want, take a different route, do what you do. Saturday's destination will be just outside of Floyds Knob, IN which is just a few miles north of Louisville, KY. The actual run route dips into KY for a while, so that does mean you might need to bring a helmet. The rules in KY are weird so here’s a link to them. Bottom line run what you’re comfortable with. Saturday night, as always will be Rock Paper Scissors raffle

some food, more beers, a fire, and hopefully some bike games. Our camping spot is again out in the country, with plenty of room.

Who's ready for some long hauls and close calls?

Yesterday I was shoveling my drive way for what seems like the millionth time when I slipped into a coma like state dreaming of warmer days, motorbikes and cold Highlife. When all at once I realized it’s only 179 days till R4YL… 179 days ago I was still hung over from R4YL 2010 and couldn’t get that smell of burning rubber and alcohol out of my skin.

Well boys and girls we’re less that ½ way there again and you know what they say... "all good shit happens in threes." Could this be the last event? Maybe or maybe not, but do you want to take that risk? We have a 100% guarantee here. If you like riding, drinking and camping you will not be disappointed with this run, it’s all we care about.

After a very short discussion we agreed that we’re down to do this again. But then you already knew that. Here’s some stuff you didn’t know. We saw some things we know we can do better while maintaining the randomness in how we operate.
We pretty well know our start and end points but are keeping them on the down low for a while.
We know pretty much who will show and who won’t so we’re gonna listen to those guys and make it into something they would like while at the same time giving the new person a quality event that they can be as stoked on it as the rest of us.
This year:
Route: Yeah we got a loose route figured out and we’re both pretty stoked on it. If you rode with me to the Borro and recall the curves and elevation changes on down 136 when we went past GT’s road, then you have a good idea what to expect for most of the ride.
Parties: Of course, but no details

Here’s a teaser. Since this is R4YL 3.O we’re going to be riding in 3 states over the 3 days…

Yesterday I was still feeling like this

I think it's starting to sink in how good a time we had, everyone who came we owe a big thanks to for supporting our dumb asses. Even the guy who broke in KY and didn't get home (Ok) till this morning at 4:45 was still stoked.... Thanks to all of you for the kind words.

More pics are flowing for me to throw up here so keep an eye open for that. Also we're busy securing plans for next year already. So stay tuned.

This year we decided we needed some security to keep the riff raff out. Unfortunately the dog got drunk and a bunch of bikers invaded our camp spot....

So Friday was actually a great party man Pliers rocked the house and many a beer were drank, sat was a great ride (slowest 180 of my life but whatever it's part of the game) Grey beards at the Burro were telling me we were "doing it right" so that's cool. One thing of note was; there were probably twice the amount of people from out of state than there were from Ohio. As I recall Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Michigan, New York, Canada, Missouri, and of course Ohio were in attendance. Pliers & Poop De Flex rocked with us all damn night.

Nate (shin guard if you hit twine ball run) rode a Yamaha Vstar 650 we dubbed tetanus from Oklahoma, with an intake manifold held together with JB weld and electrical tape at speeds well over the posted speed limit. When he got to Oh he was pulled over by OSP for 85 in a 65, with a machete strapped to his bike and got out with a WARNING!!! Anyone from Oh will tell you OSP rarely gives warnings. He tried having the intake welded here and that caused a ton more problems. He worked on that bike all night Friday and again Sat, in the end he made the run. All while parting full throttle the entire time. This netted him the OldSchool Helmets giveaway lid as our Long Hauls and Close calls award.

Unfortunately as of this morning he is broke down in KY waiting for a trailer to come get him but he’s in good spirits.

Sat was another good time with beer and food provided by the great people @ Anna’s Army. The party included a burn out pit for those who dig that stuff, an epic battle of rock paper scissors for a chance at the give away stuff as well as a bar rising bon fire that was only missing a sacrificial virgin.

If you’re ever around KlubFoot avoid swings he’s deadly!

Violation tour guys were there in full force (we’re doin that tour next year wherever it may be) Great to meet you guys.

I’m sure I left some out as the hangover is still knee deep in my ass but that’s all part of the game.
